This week marks the 100th post since we launched the developmenteducation.ie blog just over a year ago.
Thanks to all our readers and contributors for the lively discussions and debates. Sparks did fly. Disagreement was had. Long may it continue!
To mark the occasion we have launched an exciting quarterly newsletter called the eZine which you can sign up to by entering your email address using the link below. Rather than flood busy Inboxes, we’ll be sending selected news stories, resource updates and the best-of roundups from de.ie once every three months. Ah g’wan!
In the coming months you can look forward to new features, commentary and reportage, such as Jamie Hitchen’s notes on politics and life from Uganda, ‘good news’ stories from around the world as well as taking stock of the White Paper Review on Irish Aid and the Constitutional Convention that takes place across Ireland until September 2013.
Some of the ongoing regulars such as what we’re reading, development debates, 5 myths series and posts with educational themes from school projects, lessons from teachers, experiences from formal education and immersion settings and resources for educators (infographics, new publications, interviews and activist profiles, selected videos etc.) will be cropping up too.
Like the rest of the website, the resources catalogue has gone through a revamp, which we’ll post about separately. With over 200 resources fully annotated, curriculum guides for using the resources are on the way as well as the inclusion of out of print publications, such as Trócaire’s famous poster campaign, In Words and Deeds. The consumption animation is back by popular demand – the second part will be launched soon along with supporting material so watch this space.
Brick is back! Our cartoonist of the month will be bending hearts and minds through his upside down illustrations on the topics of consumption and advertising. Fasten your seatbelts for that one.
Over the next six months we will also be publishing the findings from the audit of Irish development education resources that we are undertaking, plus the new Shape of the World module that will give a snapshot of the state of our unequal planet.
