  • Turn off lights, TVs, DVD players, Hi Fis, computers, plugs, phone chargers, etc. when not needed. Leaving equipment on stand by uses up power
  • Check the central heating timer's settings in your home. There's no point in heating the house if no one's home
  • Fill the dishwasher and washing machine with a full load. This saves water, electricity and washing powder
  • Fill the kettle only with the amount of water you need
  • Do your weekly shopping in one trip. This also saves you fuel
  • Walk the 10 minutes to the bus stop rather than driving

  • Buy the energy saving light bulbs
  • Install thermostatic valves on your radiators
  • Insulate your hot water tank, loft walls and make sure you have double glazed windows
