Strand Outline


  1. Students participate in a simulation activity to explore the diversity within the group and setting rules for a safe space for further classroom discussion and debate.
  2. Students are encouraged to understand and empathise with inequality.
  3. Students discuss and research the meaning of Development, Development Education and Global Studies in order to put the course in perspective with their lives.
  4. Students investigate the definitions of Development.
  5. Students familiarise themselves with the Millennium Development Goals and their progress to date.
  6. Students link the strands of the Development Issues course with the relevant MDGs.
