Strand Outline: Conflict
- Students are introduced to the concept of Conflict by examining their personal experiences. Students then examine their school policy on anti-bullying and discuss possible resolutions through written or verbal exercises.
- Research how conflicts can be resolved.
- Raise the issue of colonisation and the resulting conflicts with students.
- Students should gain a more in depth knowledge of post-colonial conflict in a chosen country.
- Students investigate current world conflict through a series of activities and games.
- Students identify patterns, such as global resources and religion, around global conflict.
- Students review one of the films of the Rwandan Genocide in order to understand the complexity of genocide.
- Students research the stages of genocide.
- Students research the direct and indirect impact of the arms industry on development by watching “Lord of War” and using Film Review sheets.
- Students also study other issues related to conflict.
